Amelia's Quilt
This is Amelia opening her quilt from her Grandma Grace. Each grandchild gets a quilt upon graduation from college or marriage. This was Amelia's graduation from college
Grace was not there to present the quilt, sadly she died of cancer about a year ago.
The emotion of seeing that quilt was felt by everyone, it was so beautiful and so sad because Grace was not there. She would have been so proud of her grandaughter that day.
The power of a quilt is much more than cloth and stitches and design. The quilt takes on a life of it's own.
I was reading about quilts on this site: Ulster-America Folk Park The story told by a woman about her quilt that knew too much about her life. It was there in the joy and pain. The guilt of not loving her husband at times. Of being annoyed with her children. Life has it's unpleasant side and we let it show sometimes. It is all part of being human. The quilt saw it all.
